The Royal Wedding.

Today the Swedish crownprincess Victoria marries her Daniel. This is an historical event, in Swedish history a female head of state is very rare in itself and the fact that she now gets to marry a man of the people, a commoner if you may, is unheard of. Actually the last one to do so is also the oldest living Bernadotte and he actually lost his prince title when he married. Well, to be honest, in my heart I do like the Swedish royalties, they're fascinating and Victoria seems to be a genuinely honest and lovely person. However, if I disregard my fascination of the royalties, I am pro-republic. On the other hand, I do follow the wedding on tv today, I don't want to miss out on all the beautiful ladies with their stunning dresses and all the handsome gentlemen. Most stunning of them all, as should be, is Victoria. Just look at this picture from last night. Just look at that dress! Oh, I would give a lot to have that dress!

Royal wedding greetings,

Hair style inspiration.

This is the very stylish Amanda Berg who is a Swedish blogger. I was brousing through her photos and came across this one. It's so fabolous! It looks like a contemporary and modern Ronia the Robbers Daughter! I love it! I wish I had the guts to cut my hair like this, I'm only worried I wouldn't be able to do any retro hairdo's. What do you think? Do you like it?

Shopping.

Really, who can live a shopping-free life anyways? I can't! I was just happening to swing by H&M's website tonight. Well, would you be able to resist this? Anyhow, I haven't ordered it yet. Their online register was being updated, but as soon as it's in working order again I'll press that "buy" button! Ah, I can see this autumn being perfect now, with a perfect autumn dress and all.

Linn

Modcloth = Love

Modcloth, ah sweet Modcloth. You have done it again! I love this style and I wish I could buy all of this. Isn't this the perfect autumn outfit?

Linn Ekholm

ps. no news about school. They still haven't been able to speak to the person who is before me in line for the one open spot. Shouldn't they give the spot to someone who really cares instead? I do seem more motivated, don't I? I mean, I'm mail bombing them every day now. My nerves can't take much more! ds.

Give me some toys!

Hi folks!
This weekend I skipped the wekkend blog trophy because we had a big party on saturday, and because of the party I wasn't really too frisky on sunday...

I'll show you pictures of it when Mr M decides to take them from his camera and to the computer. (I don't really want to use his camera, it's way too complicated....)

Anyhow, I discovered a new craving of mine. Cleanly designed toys! Just look at these! I can see these sitting on a string shelf in our new flat. Yes I can. They are just perfect! If you want to visit the manufacturers website click here.

Linn

Bookshelf cravings.

This shelf is called String and is a true Swedish classic. It was designed in 1949 and is still super modern! Since we're moving in a few months I can't help myself but clicking my way around the internet searching for new furniture. You can see more here. (oh, I so wish the last to images were snapshots from our livingroom!!)

Imagine a black String on a black wallpaper with some cool white and black things. Maybe one small red item just to accent it all. I'm even obsessing about little things like a timer! This one is near perfection and comes from Bengt Ek Design.

Just to finish off the black wall I'd might hang these pictures from rädda barnen (save the children sweden). They sell these in their shop in a set of three. The quotes are from tre famous people, for example Oscar Wild.

Linn

Braided/plaited inspiration.

It's no chocker by now that I love braids. So here's some of the pictures I've been eyeing today for inspiration.

The first thought that crossed my mind was that this must be the perfect Midsummers Eve's hair do! Pin your flowers in there and you have the cutest and most original flowercrown. And for you who aren't familiar with this swedish tradition, it's common to make a crown of flowers and wear it on Midsummers Eve.

This was just a random picture I found on Flickr. It's like braid porn to write "braids" in the search box on Flickr.

If you want to see some incredible braids, like this one, you need to visit this homepage. These styles are a bit crazy and extravagant, but oh so inspirational. And if you want some tutorials on how to make these styles you go here.

Braided love,
Linn

Hesitating for too long.

Gaah! I've popped in to the greedy seagulls etsy shop every now and then for over a month now, just to look at this perfect lace cape. Should I buy it? Will I ever use it? Hmmm... And so my pondering went on and on.  And now, of course, it's sold! Can you imagine how grumpy I am about this now? I should have bought it when I had the chance! Bummer!

I'm lovin' it.

Hanna Lindström is a swedish designer from Gothenburg. She has created these designs. I love them! An dfor my swedish readers, isn't this the line MQ had a while back? Or did they do a rip off? Anyhow, you can find her here.

Minimarket.

Oh, I just wandered into Minimarkets website and checked out their fall/winter collection 09. I've got to say, they do have some really nice pieces! I do love how the fall lines always seem to have dusty/ mustardy/ rich colours. Minimarket seem to have taken a deep plunge into the mustard and plum pool, and I totally love it!

I love how it inspires to more well dressed, an almost british aristocratic, style. Can you guess which one is my favourite? The vest, the hat... Oh my.

(klick on the image for larger view)

However it might be just out of my price range, it does give me tons of inspiration, and it feels good after a spring and summer filled with flowery patterns, bright colours and thin fabrics.

Give me a cold breeze, cardigans and heavy fabrics, please. Early autumn, around school start, really is my favourite time of the year. The trees turn bright yellow and read, the air is high and clear and the atmosphere is just filled with a laid back and dozy feeling....

Linn

Silence.

Hi folks! I know it's been quiet here the past few days. It's a combination of factors that is to blame... We've had some stuff to go through concerning the sale of our house and I've just not looked to fashionable when doing it. Today I spent the afternoon by the sewingmashine, I'll continue that little blouse project tomorrow.

However, in my mind I'm already working on my next project. I think it'll be a two piece thing... A little inspired by this dress from Betty Page Clothing. It's stunning!

Have a nice evening!

Inspiration deluxe!

We all have them. Days when "we have nothing to wear" even though our closets are bursting at their seams. We'll if you need some inspiration you should check out The Uniform Project.

This gorgeous woman posts her daily outfit every day, but here's the twist. She's going to wear the same dress for 365 days. Well, she's got seven dresses, but they're all identical.

The dress can be worn in two ways, buttons in front or buttons in the back. Other than that she uses her imagination to get an unique outfit, everyday. So when I feel I have nothing to wear, I shut my mouth and think of her. Suddenly there are millions of options in my closet.

Then why is she doing this? Well, she wants to enlighted the issue of sustainable fashion and use this platform to raise money to a project called Akanksha Foundation which is an education programme for the children whom live in the slum in India.

Well, go check it out! I know you'll be inspired! And the best part, there's a new source of inspiration every day!

Portraits of some very stylish people.

Vill ni se fina bilder på stilsäkra människor som går sin egen väg? Här kommer ett exempel, de tre kvinnorna som tillsammans bildar Au Revoir Simone. Ni hittar intervjun här, där hela intervjun handlar om stil.
I've found a site where they do style portraits of some very cool people. For example, these three ladies whom together form Au Revior Simone. You can find the intrerview here. It's all about style and fashion, just the way we like it.

Container home.

I've been surfing around to look at different summer home solutions. The thing is that I live 120 km away from my family and in the future I would like to have a summer home there so I could go visit them more often without having to crash at mom and dad's.

I found a solution that is extremely flexible and so cool I'm dying a little everytime I see these photos. Actually in London they have an area they call Container City, which is entirely built up by containers. They built it to have cheap homes for students. I love it! Imagine all the possibilities!

Just look at this home, a complete mansion, all built with shipping containers. I love this idea and I suspect that when the day comes and I have the means to build my summer home, it might just be a container solution. I can't imagine a more flexible and versatile summer home, can you?
